During the South Carolina Democratic Debate on Monday, Hillary Clinton charged that Barack Obama had a working relationship with Tony Rezko, whom she called a Chicago "slum lord."
But, just who is Rezko?
From his Wikipedia file, he was born in Syria and moved to Illinois where he received degrees in engineering and construction. He is currently facing charges of extortion, money laundering, and fraud. He is credited with raising money for several Illinois candidates, including Barack Obama.
Their relationship goes beyond financing his campaign, and into real estate. It has surfaced that Obama bought a house, in 2005, and Rezko bought the adjoining lot on the same day. Also, Obama has said that he has done no favors for Rezko, in the past, but letters have surfaced, which were written by Senator Obama "to city and state officials in support of a low-income senior citizen development project headed by Rezko." The Chicago Sun-Times has written extensively on the Obama-Rezko relationship.
