Pssht! Hardly!
During the General Election, that would be like dropping out just before the last states close their polls, because things didn't look so good for you in the other races. Hillary has not lost this contest. It is an illusion. Many Obama supporters are pulling out the only piece of arsenal they have left in their armory, which is doubt about Hillary's chances of winning the Democratic Party's nomination. After the votes in Texas and Ohio were counted, we found out that they want Hillary for their president. When they count the votes in Pennsylvania, on April 22, we will find out that its people want Hillary for president. On May 20, Kentucky will vote for president, and Hillary will win handily. It's a fact, Kentucky loves the Clintons. And no candidate has won the presidency, since 1960, without Kentucky's support. In November, Kentucky will not vote for Obama. I guarantee it. But we'll give Hillary a chance.
Perhaps, those calling for Hillary to drop out should weigh Barack Obama's chances of beating John McCain in the General Election. Like Kentuckians, I do not think the bulk of Americans are going to elect Obama over McCain. Obama has too little of a record, which will be used extensively against him by Republicans. Who is this candidate? What does he stand for? Can we trust him with the economy? Iraq? Whereas, Senator McCain's public record goes all the way back to the Stone Age.
Sure, Hillary has had her share of problems and setbacks. Who among us--besides Barack Obama--can say otherwise? Character is built by the way we overcome adversity and deal with those issues in our lives and careers. Hillary is standing taller than ever, because she has completely overcome her personal adversity. We become stronger by learning from our mistakes. Our country will benefit greatly from Hillary's wisdom and strength.
As President Clinton said, his family is not big on quitting. I am proud to lend my complete support to Hillary Clinton. I demand that she carry out the democratic process to its logical conclusion. That is to say, give every state its constitutional right to be heard.

We're joined by our dollars and cents
As of today, Dwight and I are joined in our accounts, and lives, generally. I had my attorney draw up the papers and we signed them today. (It wasn't my father, or a partner at his firm.) I decided that I can't live forever, and I want to share what is mine with someone that is very special to me.
I felt very passionately that he should have full access to my life, and that includes sharing my money. He also gave me access to his accounts. It's as if we are married, which is really sweet.
In addition to joining our accounts, I have revised my will to give him power of attorney over my person and finances, in case I am incapacitated. That way my mom and dad aren't deciding if I live or die. (That'll just kill them, if it actually happens. I love it!) I left him 51% of my estate and sole controlling interest in my stock portfolio; thereby, making him part owner of my family's businesses. They need some new blood to get them energized. It's the best I can do. Lord knows I'm not having any kids.
Now, some people will say that he is an opportunist gold digger, who is now sitting pretty and living off of me. It was never his idea. I came up with the idea completely on my own. He begged me not to do it, in fact. I told him that I love him unconditionally. That is good enough for me. And because I love him, I want to share all that I am. Somehow, he makes me a different, better person. It is as if we have always been a part of each others lives. If he wants to clean me out and move to the Cayman Islands, it is just fine with me. But I do trust him completely. He is very much my partner in life!

Hillary Clinton, who draws overflow crowds everywhere she speaks, is determined to stay in this race until the end. That is exactly what I want to hear from my candidate!

I want to see the democratic process taken all the way to Puerto Rico in June. Then, if necessary, let it be decided at the Democratic National Convention in August, which will be held in Denver.

Will the real Joseph McCarthy stand up?
Barack Obama's campaign has accused President Bill Clinton of employing tactics similar to those used by Senator Joseph McCarthy (R-WI), during his communist witch hunts in the 1940s and 1950s.
But why?
President Clinton made a statement that the Obama campaign was working its way out of talking about other important issues, which include race and patriotism, besides just the economy and war in Iraq. At any rate, it wasn't Bill or Hillary Clinton who said they had lived their whole lives without being proud of the United States until now. (That was Michelle Obama. I guess she didn't get anything from being an American citizen until her husband decided three years in the United States Senate qualified him to be president.)
Retired General Tony McPeak, who is an Obama supporter, accused President Clinton of McCarthyism because of this statement: "I think it would be a great thing if we had an election year where you had two people who loved this country and were devoted to the interest of this country. And people could actually ask themselves who is right on these issues, instead of all this other stuff that always seems to intrude itself on our politics."
The new politics of hope is rapidly rusting and falling to the wayside. You better hurry up Obama. The clock is ticking.

Bill Richardson: No One Cares
Last week, Governor Bill Richardson (D-NM), who owes his political career to the Clintons, endorsed Senator Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination.
Now, with all the flack of his endorsement coming back to haunt him, he is trying to explain that he is still loyal to the Clintons for all they did for him, but America deserves better. He sounds like an ingrate to me. I'm not saying you have to follow someone blindly into the desert, but you can show a little loyalty to those who made you.
Anyhow, no one cared about what he had to say when he was a candidate for the Democratic nomination, and no one cares now that he has endorsed Obama. He's just fishing for the vice-president slot, or to be the next secretary of energy.

Mom's Spill
My mother is always buying furniture. It is the story of her life, so it seems. Today, that story continued, but with a bit of a twist ending (literally).
As per my usual Saturday date with Mom, we had stopped at a really out of the way place. Perhaps, it was foreshadowing, but I sensed we were in trouble when the guy standing at the desk was wearing a muscle shirt, but I digress. At the same time I was becoming disgusted by his appearance, I turned just in time to watch Mom fall face-first down the stairs.
My initial reaction was sheer horror. I was chasing after her rolling down the steps, with a bit of "Oh my God!" I finally reached her at the foot of the unmarked steps, at about the same time the burly guy, with a scant of a shirt, rushed over to see what had happened. Mom was on her hands and knees against the floor. I put my hands on her shoulders, while calling out, "Mom, are you okay?"
"I've killed myself!" was her only reply. Her shoe had been flung from her right foot. I didn't know what to do, really. I told her that she had to get herself up off of the floor, because people were hurrying over to the scene. She told me she thought her foot was broken. I literally had to pick her up from the floor and place her on a nearby mattress display. By that time, the entire sales team was at our beck-and-call. One wanted to know if he should call 9-1-1.
On a naked Serta, Mom had regained her senses and realized people were gawking and whispering. Being the lady of image that she is, she simply raised up and put on her shoe, which I had retrieved, and informed everyone she was quite okay. Unfortunately, for me, I found out privately--somewhere in lamps, I think--that her left foot had been quite seriously injured. So, we made a quiet exit, with her weighing heavily on my arm, to the car.
Sufficed to say, I made a bee-line to the doctor, even though she wasn't sure she wanted to be bothered with an x-ray. Her foot had taken on a terrible bluish hue and was twice swollen. Feeling the dread in the pit of my stomach, I had to call Dad.
Oh goodness, indeed!
He had his customary "BF," while I held the cell phone at a safe distance from my ear. Then, he wanted the name of the place where it happened. He wasn't even going to wait on the medical report. He just hung up the phone.
Five minutes later, my phone rings again. Dad had called the manager of the store and given him a piece of his mind, along with healthy expectations of a soon-to-be-filed multi-million dollar civil lawsuit for, but not limited to, pain, suffering, defamation, and negligence, and promises of publicly destroying his store's reputation (Dad's a cut-throat lawyer, after all). The owner of the store has already called to offer his regrets, but that will do little to save him, I'm afraid. He's only admitting liability, according to Dad, by apologizing. Woe be unto him, amen!

It turns out she suffered torn ligaments in her ankle and bruised one of the bones in there, too, but lucky for her, there was no break. The doctor bandaged it and sent her home with strict instructions to keep it elevated. I left her and Dad arguing over what happened, but Mom did have her foot on a pillow, which is good news.

Just in time for the Summer Olympics
China is getting tough on its renegade province, Tibet. The avant-garde communist government has declared that it will "shatter [Tibet's] conspiracy" against Beijing. China is really cracking down on groups that cause political unrest lately. Of course, Beijing will be the host city of the 2008 Summer Olympics, which is why I am wondering about China's continuous efforts to turn the rest of the world against it just in time for the opening ceremony of the games!
(There's nothing worse than a pesky disgruntled quasi-province to really throw a wrench into a celebration of universal humanhood, such as the Olympics.)

Richardson endorses Obama
It is a bit of irony that Governor Bill Richardson (D-NM) has endorsed Senator Barack Obama for president.
Many people looked to him as the key to winning over the controversial Latino vote, but it comes a bit too late, since the primaries in Texas, etc. have already been held. But as Governor Richardson stated his endorsement should be worth more than simply winning over Latino voters. Whatever he says.
I have one question for Governor Richardson. Here it is: Since New Mexico voted for Senator Hillary Clinton in its primary will he vote for Hillary as a superdelegate from his state, despite his support of Obama? After all, hasn't that been the argument of the Obama supporters?
So, in August, I hope to see Bill Richardson's vote cast in favor Hillary Clinton, since his state voted for her. (Unless, he wants to be a hypocrite about it, like the rest of the Obama faithful.)

As we know, Senator Lieberman has had experience in the arena of vice presidential campaigns, since he teamed up with Vice President Al Gore in 2000. Since then, he has lost the Democratic label and went for a less institutionalized stance as an independent in the United States Senate.

A new Gallup poll shows Hillary Clinton with 49% compared to Barack Obama's 42%. This is the largest national lead, for Clinton, since February 5.

Meet Barack Obama's New Pastor
"Whitey," I bet Barack Obama would sit through this guy's completely offensive sermon and declare that he didn't hear one derogatory word muttered by him. This so-called "preacher" of the Word is quite hilarious. His favorite words are "god damn" and "mother-fucker." I love to watch these videos sometimes, because the sheer ridiculousness of them make me laugh-out-loud. His ignorance really brightens my day. Who can't respect a preacher who uses a "pimp cane" as a prop?

Either poll is a stark contrast to previous polls, which put Hillary ahead with only single digit leads.
If Florida and Michigan are able to sit their pledged delegates, and Hillary wins Pennsylvania, what does that really mean for the Obama campaign?

Just a month ago, Barack Obama was riding a tsunami of support to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Now, just a mere month before the Pennsylvania primary, he is feeling the backlash of his lies and deceit of the American people.
After reading many comments on CNN.com, I can really see how the electorate is turning its back on this one time political superstar. A month ago, the Obama supporters would have been backing him to the hilt, while bashing Hillary. Now, I notice many of his supporters, who have already voted in their respective states, are wondering if they can take their votes back!
Senator, you may not know this, but the American electorate is so very fickle. It's moods are dictated by the latest scandal, and Reverend Jeremiah Wright has been your Achilles-heel, and possibly your downfall from grace.
Oh yeah, it seems many of those same people running from Obama are now reconsidering their previous disdain for Hillary and putting her back in their hearts!

During the 2004 presidential election, Congressman Murtha was labeled everything short of a traitor by the Bush administration, because of his vocal disapproval of the Iraq war, even though he is a disabled veteran of the Vietnam War.

McCain has no clue
Speaking to reporters in Jordan, Senator John McCain reported that Iran was growing in its influence in Iraq by providing support to al-Qaeda. Of course, the Iranians are not supporting al-Qaeda, because it is predominately a Sunni Muslim militant group, and the Iranians are Shi'ite Muslims.
McCain had to be saved by Senator Joe Lieberman, who quietly, but visually, corrected McCain.

No revote in Florida
The Democratic Party of Florida has just announced that there will be no "redo" of the state's Democratic primary.
Since all the major party candidates had their names on the ballots, and Hillary won, then they should allow the pledged delegates to have their voices heard. No candidate was disenfranchised by the vote in Florida.

Red State Update: "Obama's Preacher"
Barack Obama really didn't know his preacher of 20+ years was a bigot? As always, these guys bring a bit of comedy to an important current affair.

Barack Obama has been playing "politics as usual" recently with his attempts at underhanded, dirty politics.
Senator Obama said he was above the political fray of Washington politics. Let's not forget how he was going to be a Washington outsider and set the nation's capital back onto a solid path toward open government.
For whatever reason, Obama's campaign is trying to say Hillary Rodham Clinton has something hidden in her IRS records. If he knows something, he should show America the proof; otherwise, he is just blowing proverbial smoke. (I'm so scared.)
I do not see what is gained by prying into candidates' tax returns, including Obama. What are you going to find in there? A big, secret Iraq oil deal? Money laundering scheme with the North Koreans? Honestly, it is childish!
I would never release my tax returns, unless Americans thought I was entitled to snoop through their financial records, too. If a candidate has broken the public's trust, then let the Internal Revenue Service and federal prosecutors do their jobs. That's why we pay them.
So, until then, Mr. Obama, find a topic that really matters to Americans, and most importantly to the voters of Pennsylvania! (I want to know more about your "crazy" uncle, Jeremiah Wright.)

I recently discovered a wonderful show from Showtime, called The Tudors. It is delicious in all the carnal sense. Although, its history is a bit sketchy (isn't all history, after all?), I find it tantalizing and provocative. I have always been a fan of the Tudor dynasty, mostly its queens, but I found myself akin to Cardinal Wolsey's character in this dramatic interpretation. In the finale, the only absolution Wolsey found was from a knife's blade, but his soliloquy shook me and said all I have ever thought about the world, but mostly the holier-than-thou sort of people. The irony is that a man who many so-called pious individuals had forsaken as a wretch was, in fact, the most pious and understanding of God's forgiveness. Cardinal Wolsey may have his absolution from me, a simple mortal and sinner. I am nothing more or less.

According to Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama's minister and mentor, who himself has called an uncle, Bill Clinton screwed around with African-Americans (after all, he did kind of say that) like he did with Monica Lewinsky. After watching the following video excerpt, from The O'Reilly Factor, which in-and-of-itself is scary, I am quite dismayed by the level of hate and contempt this so-called minister, who presided over Barack and Michelle Obama's wedding and baptized their children, has for America, and white people, in general.
Apparently, Barack Obama has listened to this type of racist, hate-mongering, demeaning language for over 20 years, and then he has the temerity to preach "hope" for America. I think Obama has only been using a truncated version of his campaign slogan,"Yes we can." It's full version is "Yes we can, if we can overcome rich, white people, who want to kill poor black people by infecting them with AIDS." Or he might prefer to use Reverend Wright's frequent quote--from the pulpit, no less--in this damning video: "God damn America!" He should try that and see how long his campaign stays afloat.
(Is this Obama's "swiftboat"? Just a thought.)
With his chummy connection to Chicago slum-lord Tony Rezko coming back to haunt him, his wishy-washy experience (even if his advisers are holding summits with Canadian ministers in Ottawa), and now his own mentor and spiritual leader of twenty years very vocally condemning America to the deepest bowels of hell, he might be finished anyhow.
I read something, which I think speaks to my reasoning, on the Guava Bay blog, "At this point, I expect Pennsylvania will be a landslide. Superdelegates will begin flooding to [Hillary's] cause, and she will forget all about her idea of putting Obama at the bottom of [her] ticket." We'll be sailing off into the sunset aboard the S.S. Hillary, how sweet it will be! Hallelujah, it will be better than the Second Coming! Amen! (See, I can be a preacher, too.)

The Hair
D had his hair all cut off today. I have to say I was a bit shocked at first, because he said he was going for a haircut. Instead of a simple trim, he had it cut very short all over. I was a bit skeptical, but now I resigned to the fact it suits him well.
I told him he looked very Roman. He's oblivious. I still love him.

Ethnic Obama
Barack Obama is black, right? I suppose if it works in his favor, then sure why not. Let's forget the rest of the facts about the man, for now at least.
Many African-Americans are happy to have Barack Obama on board as the first serious "black" candidate for president of the United States. Over one-third of Democratic voters agree this year's primary election has been/is about race. (Of course, I can't really say that, since I'm a devoted Clinton supporter. So, shhhhh! Only maniacal Obama supporters can use the race card without being prejudicial.)
Earlier I mentioned Obama's ethnicity. Hmmm...what did I mean? His father was from Kenya, yes. But what about his mother? He says she was a Kansas girl. Yes, that's true, but she was black, also, right?
No, of course not!
The media always forgets--and Obama, too, on the campaign trail--that his mother was in fact white. That means he is half African-American. It's okay for him to discriminate against his white ethnicity, however. I wonder what it would be like if he said he was European-American instead? Black organizations would label him a racist for discriminating against fifty-percent of his genes. Then, there's his minister using the "n" word quite liberally in his sermons, which support Obama's candidacy.
...But that's another story altogether.

The Fight
Yesterday, Dwight and I had a fight.
I'm used to having disagreements, but this was yelling, biting lips, red-faces, and pointing fingers fighting. My feelings were terribly hurt, I have to say, for a time. Although, I have been in many fights in my life, the thing that struck me most about this one is how I cried at the end. A man has never made me cry before last night.
Am I getting soft? I have no idea. I just felt overcome with so much emotion. It was beyond me to grasp in a thoughtful way, so I just cried. Luckily, we have patched things up, and in fact, he told me he was sorry first. I guess I was brooding or something, and he is sensitive like that. He was sweet nonetheless. I didn't tell him about the crying, though. I don't want him to think he has some sort of magical grip on me...even though, he just might.

I'll take Hillary on a cloudy day
The media is up to its old we-love-Obama-hate-Clinton routine again. Should there be bias in the media?
Probably not, but that never stopped anyone.
The Clinton campaign has stated it is amenable to a Clinton-Obama ticket. What's wrong with that? I don't see that as undermining the electoral process at all. Mostly, I don't see it as undermining the campaign of Barack Obama. The media, however, stops short of labeling it a bigoted attack, but you can read their meaning, which is conveniently located just between the lines. In August, neither candidate will have achieved the magic number to win the nomination outright. I want to see the candidate, who is most suited to the task of beating John McCain, receive the nomination. Obama should want the same, too.
Why should Hillary's name be on the top of the Democratic presidential ticket? I thought the answer to that question was rather self-evident. She is by far the most experienced of the two candidates. She doesn't answer every single question by stating, "I didn't vote for the war." (By the way, that talking point is growing thin even with the most ardent of Obama supporters I know.) Hillary has a lot to offer the people of the United States, through her many peronal and professional experiences. She has earned her place at the top of the ticket. Obama's time will come, if he still wants it in the future. As always, I am not against him being the vice-presidential candidate on the ticket.
In the end, as we saw in Texas and Ohio, many undecided voters are supporting Clinton. They see her as a fighter. Two times already she has been thrust into the corner, subsequently written off as politically dead by the media, only to rise again stronger than before! People like a fighter, and you can see she has it in ample supply.
SNL got it right when they did a parody of the now famous "3a.m. White House call." In the skit, President Obama calls Senator Clinton, at 3am, for advice on how to deal with an international crisis. On November 4, experience will matter more than rock star appeal.

William Sledd
A while back I was introduced to William Sledd, via YouTube, of course. I didn't really pay attention to him until I revisited his channel recently.
He has a lot of good advice for us. I find his humor distinctive. And he's really adorable, too!

1,000!
I finally made it to my 1,000th post! I think this calls for champagne and caviar (not really)!
Hillary "polished like gold"
I found this video very endearing. It shows two women--one 101 and the other 91--who are both Hillary supporters.
Wyoming is hardly Ohio or Texas
States like Wyoming, with little population, are happy places for Barack Obama to win a victory, but they are hardly places that decide general elections.
Don't get me wrong. I am happy that the citizens of Wyoming had their voices heard, but as the final states begin to weigh in, which includes Kentucky on May 20, we will see the final results of this contest finally pour in.
Even though current polls show Barack Obama winning Mississippi, the same polls show as many as 14% of likely voters undecided. If those voters make up their mind in favor of Hillary, she will have more than enough to pull off a victory in this southern state.
How about places like Kentucky? Let me put it this way, Kentucky is in the middle of Ohio and Tennessee. Both are states Hillary put in her winning column, of course. Also, let's not forget West Virginia, which is also Clinton country.

IRS wastes taxpayers' money
The Internal Revenue Service spent $42 million to send letters to taxpayers informing them they will be receiving a rebate check, which is part of the economic stimulus package approved by the president and Congress recently.
It is blatant government waste of revenue. People have already heard about the tax rebate in the media. Why couldn't the IRS just use the media more? It could have provided the appropriate information to media outlets, and allowed them to disseminate the information--for free!
Honestly, I'm surprised the IRS didn't send a letter informing people they would receive a letter outlining their tax refund.

The New Politics is a "Monster"
Barack Obama's campaign, through an aide, labeled Hillary Clinton a "monster," during an interview with a British newspaper.
Even though, the aide has subsequently resigned from the Obama campaign, and issued an apology to Senator Clinton, it would now seem as if Obama's campaign is beginning to back-slide a bit. If things do not get better, it may snowball out of control until he is forced out of the campaign.
Let's face it, Senator Obama is too "wishy-washy-what-do-I-do-next" to mount a come back. Every time he pushes Hillary into a corner, she pushes back and he falls. I do not think he can push her into another corner. She has already rebounded twice, even after the media had counted her out both times.
So to Obama's "new politics" I say it looks a lot like the old politics to me.

Hillary's New Momentum
Since Hillary Clinton won the primaries in Texas, Ohio, and Rhode Island, she can now reclaim her status as a viable candidate for the Democratic nomination.
Obama has been goofing up lately. Why? He really doesn't know how to run an effective campaign. He has advisers doing strange things, such as speaking with Canadian government officials about NAFTA; specifically, how it may not be such a bad idea (of course, that is off the record).
Another problem is Obama did not win one of the large primary states. Hillary won all of the critical states, which include California, Ohio, Texas, and New York (and she also won Florida, but we all know what has become of that situation).
Senator Clinton has stated she is amiable to a joint ticket; however, I defer to her place at the top of any pending ticket. It will probably come down to a joint ticket. Hopefully, it will not come to a brokered convention in Denver later this year. I still like the idea of a Clinton-Gore ticket for 2008. I think Hillary has positioned herself into a commanding role, considering the states she has carried in the primaries. In Denver, behind closed doors, Obama may come out the loser.
Obama needs to weigh his experience and viability at this point. After all, I do not believe he can effectively take on John McCain in November.

Hillary's Wins

Clinton v. McCain v. Obama
Senator Hillary Clinton, at a news conference aboard Hill Force One, told reporters that if Barack Obama wins the Democratic presidential nomination, then all he will have to put up against John McCain's lifetime of experience and service is a speech he gave in 2002, in which he opposed the Iraq war.

Freudian Slip
In Richardson, Texas, Senator John McCain told the crowd that he is a "proud conservative-liberal Republican." He quickly goes on to fix his blunder, however, to the laughs of the crowd. I wonder what was going through his mind at that exact moment?
