In a blow to anti-gay activists, the Massachusetts legislature blocked an amendment to the state's constitution.
In order to get the amendment on the ballot, it required at least fifty lawmakers to approve it, but it only received forty-five votes. In the final assessment, 151 lawmakers opposed placing the amendment on the ballot.
This action shows that the state of Massachusetts is committed to equal rights for all of its citizens. I say good for them! We can only hope that their efforts and strength will be a beacon for other states to follow.
