Even though, I don't watch "wrestling," I found this story interesting, because it allegedly involves drug abuse, fame and abuse.
A wrestler in the WWE, Chris Benoit, killed his wife and son, before hanging himself. Some have attributed this horrific event to his abuse of steroids. Now, I was under the impression that they have tests for those kinds of drugs.
Why wouldn't someone in such a physically demanding profession, as professional wrestling, be tested for drug infractions, such as steroid use? It is quite simple if you think about it. Organizations, like the WWE, rely on the image of their wrestlers to keep their demographic engaged. If you drug test them and find they are abusing drugs, then you might have to fire them and then what would happen to your profit?
See how that works? It's pretty simple.
Of course, no one is for certain this is the case. The only facts we do know are that his wife filed for divorce from Benoit in 2003, but went on to drop the petition. Also, his wife filed for a protective order from the court, stating the cause as "cruel treatment."
