Today, from a fishing boat in Kennebunkport, Maine, President George W. Bush commuted Dick Cheney's good pal, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby's jail sentence.
Earlier today, a federal appellate court held that Libby, who was charged with leaking a CIA operative's identity, and subsequently found guilty, could not delay his thirty month prison sentence during the appeals process.
Even though, he is free from prison, he is not free from the conviction, which remains on his record. He can only get rid of that if the president grants him a pardon. Bush only granted him a commutation of his prison sentence. I am sure he will get his full pardon around 6am on January 20, 2009, though, along with other party hacks and cronies, who are facing prison.
