After being found guilty of raping a fourteen year old Iraqi girl and the subsequent murder of the girl's family, Pfc. Jesse Spielman was sentenced to 110 years.
I found this quite shocking, actually. Considering the Bush administration's policy on nation building and general war, I figured they would have found him guilty and then pinned a medal on him, while congratulating him, "Good job, soldier!"
Sometimes I can still be surprised!
