You know, I have been upset by the new Democratic-led Congress.
They give into Bush's demands way too easily. Just because he calls for an expansion of the government's ability to eavesdrop, doesn't mean they have to do it!
Congress approved Bush's request to amend the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, after a rather unimpressive squabble. Apparently, Bush threatened to veto the bill if it didn't meet his director of National Intelligence's needs, which must have caused congressional leaders to quake in their boots.
Big whoop!
Exactly when was the last time Bush gave into the demands of Congress?
All of this talk about "secret courts" really sounds un-American to me. A defiant Congress would have told Bush to toot it out of his bum, and then went on a month long vacation, leaving him high-and-dry. Why should Congress be obliged to do anything the president wants, when he is so rigid in his agenda?
I want a Congress that stands up against the president!
