Sarah Palin supports North Korea

In an interview, former Alaska governor and vice president candidate Sarah Palin declared her support of America's ally, North Korea.

She really should check her facts before she writes them on her palms.

Backasswards

That word is quite amusing and folky, which is why I am not shocked by who said it. Sarah Palin, who is a Republican stooge, that was John McCain's vice president pick in 2008, stated that Obama was going about the economic issue "backasswards."

Now, I am from Kentucky, and not Alaska, so we may say things here a smidge differently than other places. I have said, "Ass-backwards." There is a unique way, of course, we say it in Kentucky, and I am not going to try to sound it out here.

But I digress.

It is a dumb euphemism, and I wouldn't say it in front of a group of people, if I were a politician. But, again, I'm no Sarah Palin.

What does it take for former governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, to give a speech to a Constitutional Democracy-hatin' Tea Party?

Notes written on the palm of her hand, duh! I couldn't believe it when I saw it. Usually, a piece of paper--or TelePrompTer--with some remarks will suffice, but not for Palin. She has to temporarily tattoo it to her body.

Sarah Palin resigns as governor of Alaska

Governor Sarah Palin (R), of Alaska, will resign as governor today.

I believe fervently that it will be a great asset to Alaska to have an infamous someone, who has been in the limelight for too long, off of the national stage.

Even though Palin has future political ambition, within the Republican Party, she will never be able to deliver on any campaigns she may join or initiate on her own. There is way too much baggage there.

Sarah Palin to resign as governor of Alaska

Republican governor of Alaska, and unsuccessful former vice-presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, has announced she will resign the governorship of her state later this month.

Accordingly, various elements of the media have started to speculate about her motivation for such an unorthodox move. Some have stated she is being investigated by federal investigators over a myriad of alleged abuses relating to her tenure as governor. This has caused Palin's lawyers, Clapp, Peterson, Van Flein, Tiemessen & Thorsness, LLC, a law firm in Alaska, to issue a "Media Release," which can be nothing more than a blatant intimidation tactic that the First Amendment has been repealed seemingly in honor of Palin's privacy as a public servant (that's an oxymoronic statement). Her lawyers allude to a provision in the Alaska state constitution that protects its citizens from those who are "responsible for the abuse" of the freedom of speech. I'm pretty sure that the Constitution of Alaska, which may be a fine document, does not apply to those who do not live or conduct business in the state of Alaska. Furthermore, this issue would fall under the purview of the United States Constitution, via Federal District Court, not Alaska state court, if any libelous or slanderous charges were brought forth.

We'll be very much aware, in the future, of the scope of Alaska's state constitution. (Yeah, right!)

Is Sarah Palin going to run for president in 2012? God, I hope not. It will be an embarrassment for our country and it will bring more shame on the already rusting Republican political machine. I believe her reputation, both in her private and public lives, has been irrevocably tarnished, as a result of the 2008 presidential election.

Whatever happened to him and his plastic wife? McCain just disappeared from the spotlight on November 4. Unfortunately, his vice president, Sarah Palin, did not.

Caroline Kennedy is no Sarah Palin

Some disillusioned Republicans are attempting to railroad Caroline Kennedy from being appointed to Hillary Rodham Clinton's seat in the United States Senate by comparing her to Republican Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Let's face facts here. Caroline Kennedy is the daughter of a president of the United States and her mother was Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Sarah Palin is no where near that caliber, and the world knows it!

Sarah Palin Gets Bloody

After pardoning one turkey, she takes questions using a bloody slaughter trough as her background. Of course, the executioner did not wait until her interview was over before he continued his work of slitting turkeys' throats (or whatever Medieval method he was utilizing).

I personally think it would have been appropriate to ask to change the background during the interview process. She glanced over her shoulder once to see what the clamour was about behind her. Governor Palin prophesied she would be criticized for what happened at the turkey farm that day during that interview too. How ironic. She was correct!

Sarah Palin goes rogue

Good for Sarah Palin. I'm glad to see she is willing to break free of the John McCain mold. Perhaps, one Republican really gets it. I think she is lining herself up for a shot at the White House in 2012. I don't think she will get it, however. But I wish her luck.

Sexism in Politics (and Media)

Politicians have been dodging questions from reporters for centuries. Sufficed to say, most of those politicians have been men, but now that Governor Sarah Palin is on the Republican ticket for vice president, she is being called "stupid" for dodging questions.

Here is the double-standard when it comes to what is acceptable in political double-speak:

If a male politician doesn't want to answer a particular question he shrugs it off and answers a question he wished he'd been asked instead. In that case, pundits say, "He's one crafty S.O.B.!"

If a female politician doesn't want to answer a particular question she shrugs it off and answers a question she wished she'd been asked instead. In that case, pundits say, "She's too dumb to know the answer."

Why?

It's a bitter testimonial to the times we live in. Racism is taboo, but sexism is quite alright.

When I watch Sarah Palin answer questions (yes, Katie Couric's questions), I see her doing the same thing a man would do in her place. She deflects and transitions to a sound bit she wants to deliver. That is part of the political game. That is the way all politicians answer questions.

Let's be fair to all of the candidates, both male and female. Be tough, but balanced.

SNL: Clinton & Palin

I really enjoyed the Saturday Night Live skit of Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin. When I first saw it Saturday night (duh), I thought it really was Sarah Palin playing a cameo part. But it turns out that it was Tina Fey, who looks strikingly similar to the Alaska governor. She even plays up her Minnesota-like accent.

"Hillary" stated that she should "have wanted it more," while talking about the presidency. Of course, fewer people could have wanted it more than her.

Clinton & Palin

Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK) says that Barack Obama made a mistake when he did not make Hillary Clinton his running mate for the general election.

Yes, I agree with her fully. Hillary would have been a much more suitable candidate for that position than Joe Biden (D-DE).

Can a black father of 2 really be president?

CNN has an "iReport" question currently on its website that asks, "Can a mom of 5 really be VP?"

I find that repulsive, even if she is a Republican!

This is the same kind of demoralizing comments that brought down Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary season. Now, suddenly Republicans are upset that Barack Obama's campaign--and the media--has brought out the sexist ammunition in the general election, too, against John McCain's running mate, Governor Sarah Palin. (She is being punished for being a mother, too!)

I believe a woman, man, gay, straight, transsexual, white or black can be vice president, and even president of the United States, if they are qualified for the position. It is stupid, and a sign of our times, that such comments can be blatantly made by the media. If they asked the question, which is the title of this post, "Can a black father of 2 really be president?," then the entire nation would be in an uproar over racist sentiments in the media. Of course, there'd be Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to defend Obama (or any minority candidate).

Perhaps, one day, we can live in a country where everyone is truly valued for his/her experience...despite what is in his/her pants!

Barack Obama: "Off limits!"

Speaking of his own child bride mother, Barack Obama said the children of candidates, and especially the children of children of candidates, are off limits to political attacks. Of course, he was referring to the glowing 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice president candidate, Governor Sarah Palin (AK), who is expecting her own baby out of wedlock.

Obama stated his own mother was 18 when she had him. I guess that sets a new level of acceptable motherhood for America's daughters, since his mother did it.

John McCain is trying to figure out when he knew about this. He has to ask his aides, of course, since he has no independent recollection of having been told about the pregnancy of his running mate's daughter.

Teen Pregnancy & DWI

John McCain's vice presidential candidate, Governor Sarah Palin, comes from a rather sordid family, by Republican terms. It turns out her 17-year-old princess is five months pregnant and her husband has a DWI wrap.

How/will will this impact how conservative Republicans' view the McCain-Palin ticket? I just realized that George W. Bush's alcoholic run-ins with the law made him a hero.

Oh well...

McCain's VP: Governor Sarah Palin

I was happy with John McCain's choice of a woman to share his presidential ticket. Senator McCain is working hard to win over the Hillary Clinton supporters! He is using Hillary in his television ads to say Senator Obama is inexperienced. Now, he has done what Barack Obama wouldn't do, which is bring a woman to his ticket.

Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK) is an unlikely choice. She has been governor of America's 49th state for less than two years, but she brings some heavy credentials to the table, which include her campaign to rid corruption from Alaska's politics. She is also an anchor that ties McCain to the right wing portion of the Republican Party, because she is completely pro-life and a life long member of the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Barack Obama could have learned a lesson from McCain. He should have picked a woman to be his partner for president. Even though it didn't have to be Hillary Clinton, it would have gone a long way to show Hillary supporters he understands the need for complete change in the landscape of Washington politics.

Governor Palin even thanked Hillary Clinton for putting 18 million cracks in the "highest glass ceiling" of politics, during her first speech as McCain's vice presidential candidate. She is brave and determined!
