Donald Trump is right about Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX). (I also asked this question some time before.)
Senator Cruz is a natural born citizen of Canada...not the United States. While his mother was born in the United States, his father was born in Cuba. He asserts that his mother is enough to cover the "natural born" citizenship clause of the U.S. Constitution. I think the Constitution is rather clear on this issue. It would be up to the Supreme Court of the United States to finalize the position.
In 2008, the United States Senate, however, passed a resolution to give Senator John McCain (R-AZ) the status of natural born citizen, since he was born outside the United States, while his father was on active military service in Panama. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) stated that the Senate would not consider a similar resolution for Ted Cruz.
What's that all aboot, eh?

Our First Canadian President, eh?
In February, 2014, I published my thoughts on Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) running for president.
It would seem that Senator Cruz is going to announce his candidacy for the nation's highest office in the near future, despite constitutional reservations about his ability to serve.
Unlike Barack Obama, Cruz has a Canadian birth certificate. His father was a Castro-sympathizing Cuban, while his mother is his only birth connection to the United States, since she was born in Delaware.
How can Republicans not criticize Cruz legitimately for the very thing they illegitimately criticized Obama for in 2008 and 2012? Will Donald Trump parade Cruz's Canadian birth certificate for the whole world to see? Will Cruz publish his birth certificate? Will he acknowledge his Canadian roots at all?
I have reservations about people who claim they are natural born Americans, when in fact they were born on foreign shores. That applies to John McCain (R-AZ), despite the fact his father was on active military service which led to his birth in Panama. Let me go a step further, would I have berated the issue if Barack Obama had been born in Hawaii prior to 1959? The answer is an astounding yes! Considering, Hawaii was not a state until 1959. (Obama was born in 1961.)
With that said, Obama's father was born in Kenya, while his mother was born in Kansas. (If we want to draw parallels to Cruz and Obama's American pedigrees.)
Article II, Section 1, of the United States Constitution very clearly states: "No Person except a natural born Citizen...shall be eligible to the Office of President." While it may seem ludicrous to have this conversation in the 21st century, it was an important principle for the individual holding the highest political office in the land to have no allegiance by birth, or claim thereby, to another sovereign nation.
It will fall to the United States Supreme Court to decide if that portion of the Constitution allows for naturalized citizens as well. Of course, there's the constitutional amendment option, but I doubt that will happen before 2016 (or ever).

Backasswards
That word is quite amusing and folky, which is why I am not shocked by who said it. Sarah Palin, who is a Republican stooge, that was John McCain's vice president pick in 2008, stated that Obama was going about the economic issue "backasswards."
Now, I am from Kentucky, and not Alaska, so we may say things here a smidge differently than other places. I have said, "Ass-backwards." There is a unique way, of course, we say it in Kentucky, and I am not going to try to sound it out here.
But I digress.
It is a dumb euphemism, and I wouldn't say it in front of a group of people, if I were a politician. But, again, I'm no Sarah Palin.

John McCain, Welcome to America!
United States Senator John McCain (AZ), who we all know is a Republican, blah, blah, thinks President Obama made a mistake by not classifying Santa bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, as a military combatant, so he would be tried in a military court, instead of a civil court.
With all due respect, Senator, but isn't that whole point of terrorism? I mean, isn't it the very notion that terrorists want to destroy American institutions by instilling fear into our minds and causing us to throw off our day-to-day lives to conform to them? If we put Abdulmutallab on trial before a military tribunal for an act that occurred on American soil, then the terrorists are defying American justice, and we are complacent.
The Constitution applies here, Senator McCain.
I sincerely hope that the terrorists--whomever they are--see that in America we live by a set of equitable laws and a solid code of justice that cannot be defied by their bombs, kamikaze-wanna-bes, or rhetoric. If you commit a crime in the United States, then you will be tried in an American civil court of justice, protected by liberties guaranteed by our nation's constitution, defended by an attorney, set before a jury of peers. If appropriate, the guilty will be punished according to our laws.
The Constitution cannot simply be railroaded when you feel compelled, Senator McCain. This is not Nazi Germany. And the age of George W. Bush is in the past. We do not have secret courts, where civil rights and liberties can be ignored, when a few desire it. From the lowest to the highest criminal, each stands before the same framework of justice.
That is our America!

Limbaugh rags on Roberta McCain
Rush Limbaugh is attacking John McCain's 90+ year old mother, Roberta McCain, over her statement that she is from a different Republican Party than Limbaugh.
I agree. Limbaugh's political doctrine is from another planet.

It's too bad for John McCain that no one cares what he has to say about how Barack Obama is doing as president of the United States. I think Senator McCain needs to accept the fact that he lost the presidency.

McCain & Obama: Final Round
During last night's debate, Senator John McCain spared little expense in labeling Senator Barack Obama a liberal who wants nothing more than a bloated government, while calling himself a strict federalist.
Although, Senator McCain stated he is "no George Bush," he has failed in distancing himself from the 7-plus years of the presidency of George W. Bush.
It is my opinion that McCain's campaign is essentially over. November 4 will simply illustrate this fact in the most sincere manner.

McCain & "That One"
People are being overly aggressive toward John McCain because he referred to Senator Obama as "that one."
It was a botched attempt at humor. That's all there is to it. I noticed that McCain made numerous attempts at humor throughout the debate. I found some of it worth a chortle.
I am not saying McCain and Obama do not have personal anomisity, because they do. It was quite obvious during last night's debate. I believe, however, we should take what people say within the context in which they say it.

McCain, Obama: The First Debate
The first presidential debate of the 2008 season got off to a rocky start last night, considering many didn't know if Senator John McCain was going to be able to make it.
After McCain's political stunt to look super-presidential back-fired in his face, he decided that he should probably participate in the debate, which was held in Oxford, Mississippi. I'm not sure it was to Obama's credit, however.
John McCain, who is seemingly three days older than God, made Barack Obama look more than a little green, when it came to such things as foreign policy. Senator McCain dropped world leaders' names left and right, including his impressive collection of passport stamps, leaving Senator Obama appearing as if he is an amateur on foreign affairs.
I wonder which Democrat could have made McCain's resume seem a little less daunting? I can't think of anyone, can you? (Hint: Hillary Clinton.)

Joe Lieberman: Get over it!
Why doesn't Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT) become a Republican already?
He left the Democratic Party, in 2006, when he lost the Democratic Party primary to be re-elected to the United States Senate. He changed his voter registration to Independent; however, he still caucuses with Democrats, but he hangs out with conservative Republicans, like John McCain.
It's simple really why he became an Independent instead of a Republican. The voters of Connecticut would never elect a Republican to the United States Senate. But I think in the 2012 election cycle, the Connecticut voters will see through Lieberman's wolf's clothes and elect a "real" Democrat to represent them!

CNN has an "iReport" question currently on its website that asks, "Can a mom of 5 really be VP?"
I find that repulsive, even if she is a Republican!
This is the same kind of demoralizing comments that brought down Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary season. Now, suddenly Republicans are upset that Barack Obama's campaign--and the media--has brought out the sexist ammunition in the general election, too, against John McCain's running mate, Governor Sarah Palin. (She is being punished for being a mother, too!)
I believe a woman, man, gay, straight, transsexual, white or black can be vice president, and even president of the United States, if they are qualified for the position. It is stupid, and a sign of our times, that such comments can be blatantly made by the media. If they asked the question, which is the title of this post, "Can a black father of 2 really be president?," then the entire nation would be in an uproar over racist sentiments in the media. Of course, there'd be Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to defend Obama (or any minority candidate).
Perhaps, one day, we can live in a country where everyone is truly valued for his/her experience...despite what is in his/her pants!

Barack Obama: "Off limits!"
Speaking of his own child bride mother, Barack Obama said the children of candidates, and especially the children of children of candidates, are off limits to political attacks. Of course, he was referring to the glowing 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice president candidate, Governor Sarah Palin (AK), who is expecting her own baby out of wedlock.
Obama stated his own mother was 18 when she had him. I guess that sets a new level of acceptable motherhood for America's daughters, since his mother did it.
John McCain is trying to figure out when he knew about this. He has to ask his aides, of course, since he has no independent recollection of having been told about the pregnancy of his running mate's daughter.

McCain's VP: Governor Sarah Palin
I was happy with John McCain's choice of a woman to share his presidential ticket. Senator McCain is working hard to win over the Hillary Clinton supporters! He is using Hillary in his television ads to say Senator Obama is inexperienced. Now, he has done what Barack Obama wouldn't do, which is bring a woman to his ticket.
Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK) is an unlikely choice. She has been governor of America's 49th state for less than two years, but she brings some heavy credentials to the table, which include her campaign to rid corruption from Alaska's politics. She is also an anchor that ties McCain to the right wing portion of the Republican Party, because she is completely pro-life and a life long member of the National Rifle Association (NRA).
Barack Obama could have learned a lesson from McCain. He should have picked a woman to be his partner for president. Even though it didn't have to be Hillary Clinton, it would have gone a long way to show Hillary supporters he understands the need for complete change in the landscape of Washington politics.

Was she right?
On the inaugural day of the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, the Republican National Committee (RNC) has released a campaign video asking the question, "Was she right?" Naturally, they are referring to Hillary Clinton's words calling Barack Obama inexperienced. She said she brought a lifetime of experience to the White House and Obama was bringing a speech he made in 2002 opposing war in Iraq.
Is Hillary right? You bet your ass she is. It would seem that Republicans are going to use Hillary's egregious loss to an inexperienced politician as bait to win over as many of the 18 million voters who supported her primary campaign to the McCain side.
I am greatly tempted!

Senator Barack Obama has selected Senator Joe Biden (D-DE) as his running mate for this year's presidential election.
What did Senator Biden have to say about Senator Obama in 2007? "The presidency is not something that lends itself to on the job training." Those are words that Biden backed-up again on an ABC Democratic debate held on August 19, 2007 by saying, "I think I stand behind the statement."
With this comment, it would seem that the only other disingenuous candidate, who holds more disdain, Obama could have picked would have been Senator Hillary Clinton. I guess it just goes to show that Obama is willing to accept his #2 enemy as his running mate.
How come I feel as if this is a Kennedy-Johnson ticket? (Fresh-faced, inexperienced and the old geezer.) Senator John McCain (R-AZ) has already fired back with his own ad condemning Barack Obama for picking a running mate who doesn't believe in his ability to be president.
