Ted Nugent, America's Moral Compass

It would seem that CNN, in an attempt to appeal to right-wing gun lovers, is giving people, like Ted Nugent, a voice over the Virginia Tech atrocity, which happened on Monday; specifically, in the area of gun control laws.

Why would I want to know what Nugent has to say about the right to bear arms in America? That is a little bit like asking Michael Jackson for babysitting advice. It is a bit on the absurd side. We look too often to people, who are celebrities, for guidance on issues that we should be able to lead ourselves. It's like Angelina Jolie adopting a baby from Asia or Africa. Suddenly, everyone is traveling over-seas for a new child.

Instead of looking toward morons who have no clue why they believe what they believe to be our moral compasses, let's seek out people who have spent their professional lives analyzing the effects important issues have on our society.

Would our society be safer if every American was packing a pistol on their right hip? I argue the antithesis is in fact the outcome of such a ludicrous and ill-informed decision. We realize that humans are violent by nature. It is simple genetics, not my opinion. Even though, many of us have learned to control our outbursts, there are still those of us who lack the ability to judiciously act on such impulses. So, instead of blowing off steam, we can blow off heads, since we will all be packing heat.

The criminals will learn they can't mess with the average Joe on the street, right? Of course not. Instead, we will be creating a new subversive culture in society, who are impulse-driven criminals. They decided to use the freedom of gun ownership to solve the simple problems of day-to-day life.

What are we to do?

Simply, let's hang up our spurs, melt the guns down, and turn off our zealous vigilante attitudes; thereby, doing something useful, like recycling scrap, useless metal.

Let's admit it, it would have been a tall order for Cho Seung-Hui to have summarily executed over thirty victims Monday if he had been forced to settle for a knife or sling-shot, instead.
