The debate was much more civil than the South Carolina debate. There was no apparent rancor, direct allegations, or confrontations on the issues. There were simply sides presented and debated among the candidates. Senator Clinton was cool and collected with her message. She delivered a new vision for America, with a "can-do" attitude. Her presence on the stage, also, seemed to say, "I am the incumbent candidate with all of the experience." But, she is Hillary, after all.
Senator Obama's performance was also very good. I give him credit for that. As many political pundits stated, in their post-debate analysis, Obama seemed to be the "new" candidate who was sitting in Hillary's shadow just trying to escape from it.
But did he actually escape from it? CNN conducted it's Dial-Testing among independent voters and found that Clinton won 60% of their votes over Obama's 40%. That may spell some bad news for Obama. Current polls show that Hillary is winning in every "Super Tuesday" state, except Georgia and Alabama. Obama will have to work very hard in the next 96-hours to whittle away at her lead.
I'm not sure that he can, though.
(At any rate, the Democratic debate upscaled the Republican debate, which was held only twenty-four hours previously, just a few steps away from Ronald Reagan's grave. Who would he vote for? Only Abraham Lincoln knows!)
