With almost all of the Democratic primary votes counted, it is apparent that former lieutenant governor, Steve Beshear, has won with about 41% of the vote. Beshear needed at least 40% to avoid a party run-off election with fellow Democrat Bruce Lunsford, who has already conceded to Beshear.
On the Republican side, Governor Ernie Fletcher was able to capture about 50% of the Republican vote, which secures his place on the ballot for the General Election in November. He will go up against Steve Beshear, in the final battle for the Governor's Mansion.
I believe it is quite obvious--sans a scandal--Beshear is going to win the election in November; thereby, making him Kentucky's next governor in December.
