Republican leaders are taking former Florida congressman, Mark Foley, to the cross for a good old-fashioned lynching, as I predicted. I give him marks, however, for his timely resignation. Unlike Tom DeLay, who thought he could be a blatant crook and hold his elected office too, Foley decided it was time to close up the shop and head on back home.
It looks as if now some of the Republican leadership should be offering their resignations as well. According to available information, some congressional leaders knew about this incident in 2005! Yet they did nothing to follow through with the allegation. That's what you call keeping it in the family.
