Poor Jim

Senator Jim Bunning (R-KY) is coming to the end of his political career. He was too afraid to run for another term, because he knows he is finished. He decided to show the average American that life really is "tough shit."

As the lone senator, he decided to hold up the unemployment insurance benefits (along with other things), which will cease at the end of today, by objecting repeatedly to its adoption on Friday. The United States Senate will take up the issue again this coming week. It is surely to pass once it is put to a vote.

It is shameful that this occurred. It is even more shameful that he had to represent Kentucky.

Republican Senators play the blame game

Kentucky's junior senator, Jim Bunning, is blaming the senior senator and Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell, of costing Republicans seats in the United States Senate.

Bunning, who is up for re-election next year, is seen by many as being vulnerable in his position. In 2007, Kentucky elected a Democratic governor to replace one-termer Ernie Fletcher. Perhaps, Bunning doesn't feel as if his old Washington buddy, Mitch, can't rake in the money his campaign needs to fend off Democrats next fall.

With words like that, I doubt Bunning will have much to worry about, when it comes to McConnell helping him raise money. I guess it just goes to show you that even politicians can't take the heat, so they blame everyone else (they wouldn't do that!).
